Milwaukee’s Polish Churches

The life of Milwaukee’s Polish Community was centered in its churches. The first Polish parish in Milwaukee was founded in 1866. As Milwaukee’s Polish population grew, so did the number of Polish parishes. By 1927, there were 17 Polish Roman Catholic parishes and one Polish National Catholic Church in the city.

The following is a brief summary of the individual churches. The addresses and zipcodes shown are their current ones. Many addresses were changed in 1929-1930 when Milwaukee renamed a number of streets. Following the church names are the LDS Church film numbers for births, marriages, and deaths recorded at the respective churches prior to 1921. For events after 1920 you will need to contact the individual parish.
