Bronisława (née Rogóż) Wolnik was initially a typical early 20th century Polish immigrant to Chicago.  However, she had an inner soul and passion that she expressed in poetry. This collection includes her poems that were published in Chicago Polish media in the 1930’s as well as some private correspondence that she wrote as poems. Joyful, sad, political or personal, they are hauntingly beautiful!

This bilingual edition preserves all of the original poems in Polish as well as translations into English, which include end notes to explain many of the poet’s Polish cultural and historic references to modern American readers. This book is a must have for those who enjoy poetry, or wish to know how Polish immigrants really felt about their new world!
