Have you ever wondered what it would be like to travel back to Poland to meet your immigrant ancestors’ family? Learn the basics of genealogy and discover how to locate your cousins in Poland. This helpful book also walks you through the steps for planning a heritage trip of a lifetime and then gives advice on how to write your family’s history book on KDP.
Donna’s experience may be like yours. She had loving immigrant grandparents but couldn’t communicate with them, so knew nothing about their past except they were from Poland. Her interest in genealogy didn’t begin until the first and second generations had passed away. Her cousins and siblings knew close to nothing about their grandparents’ past, and Donna didn’t inherit any documents or photos from the family. If this sounds like you, be encouraged as the records and helpful people are out there to help you!
After learning the essentials of genealogy, Donna discovered the church records from her grandparents’ parish back in Poland. With a family tree that went back to the 1700s, Donna began her quest to find any living descendants of her great-grandparents. She found quite a few cousins, and they held a reunion in her honor on her first visit to Poland. She returned in 2018 to interview the oldest relatives for a historical novel set in the village during WWII.
Travel Back to Your Polish Roots By Donna B Gawell
“In Travel Back to Your Polish Roots,” Donna explains basic genealogy and then more advanced searching in Polish records. She also explains the different strategies she used to find not only her Polish family, but also her husband’s cousins who live in a different Polish village, and how she identified and then visited cousins in Sweden.
The book also details how to plan a family history trip to Europe, visiting WWII sites and museums in Poland, and how to write a family history book using Amazon’s publishing tool, KDP.
